NEW CYLINDER PREHEAT SYSTEM

CAN BE USED WITH ANY OIL SUMP HEATER

Reiff Preheat Systems, who has produced aircraft engine preheaters since 1979 and introduced the Hotpadd oil sump type engine heater in 1992, is answering requests from customers for an affordable, premium engine preheating system which includes cylinder heaters. The new FAA-PMA approved HotBandd Cylinder Heating System is designed to be used with any brand of oil sump heater, which can be plugged into the cylinder heater wire harness so one extension cord powers both systems. The system consists of thin, stainless steel heated bands that clamp around the unfinned portion of each cylinder, and a wire harness. It is quick and simple to install and no STC or Form 337 is required - just a logbook entry. It is available for 120 or 220 V.

The advantages of this system over the other available system are:

• Does not use the holes in the cylinder head that are intended for CHT thermocouple sensors, so every cylinder can be heated even if a CHT gauge is installed.
• Heats cylinders faster with the same wattage because it puts the heat directly on the cylinders, rather than on the cylinder heads.
• Allows an aircraft with an oil sump heater installed to be upgraded to a multi-point system for faster engine preheats and superior performance in extreme cold, without having to purchase a completely new system.
• Heat is applied uniformly all around the cylinder, not concentrated at one point as with probe heaters. This reduces thermal stress on the cylinder.
• Easier to install due to much simpler wiring harness.
• Easier to remove than heated plugs, which can become corroded in the threaded CHT holes.
• Installs on top of engine to keep it cool and for easier installation.
• Lower cost.
