Beeper Box Manual

• Operates with most standard "off-the-shelf" pagers or cell phones**

• Programmable Operating Modes:

• Timer mode (choose the number of hours it runs on activation, from 1 to 12; when unit times out it resets and waits for another activation)

• Toggle on/off mode
  (unit turns on or off with beeper or cell phone activation, but has no timing function so it stays on or off until the next beeper or cell phone activation)

• One-time-on mode
  (unit starts off, then turns on when activation occurs)

• One-time-off mode
  (unit starts on, then turns off when activation occurs)
  

• Operates any electrical device(s) subject to maximum 1800 watts

• Operates with 120 VAC (not available in 220v) 

• Short-circuit and overload protection

• 15 Amp fuse externally mounted for ease of access

• Competitive units have the cell phone or pager built into the box and require you to pay THEM for an annual subscription to whatever wireless service they have partnered with.  Because they are the sole source for service, you are at their mercy for future subscription rates.  And if they or the wireless provider goes out of business, you are stuck with a useless product.  In contrast, our unit works with a cell phone or pager supplied by YOU.  That's better because you are not locked into a sole source for service... you can use whatever service is best for you.

• Because the Beeper Box does not have its cell phone "built-in" it cannot provide "feedback" as some competitive units do. That is, it can't call or text you to confirm that your engine preheater is on or off. There is an easy solution... plug a cheap AM/FM radio into the Beeper Box along with your engine heater and place it nearby. When you call the cell phone inside the Beeper Box to turn your engine heater on the radio will be turned on also and you will hear it over the cell phone inside the box. If you call to turn the engine heater off, the radio will go off also.   
  
  

** Pager or cell phone and service are required but not included.  Many users obtain the cheapest available basic pre-paid cell phone, e.g. Trac Fone.  Some plans also allow you to add another phone to your account for $10/month. The phone or pager is velcroed inside the Beeper Box and the ring sound is what triggers the Beeper Box, so the phone does not need to "answer" and consume airtime minutes.  The pager or phone must have a ring tone that makes 3 separate tones or beeps within 5 seconds, each separated by a period of silence between them.  Simply varying the volume up and down will not activate the box, for example a warbling tone or musical melody.

The Beeper Box allows you to remotely control the power to your electric preheater from home, office, or anywhere without the need for a phone line to your hangar. Using a standard, off-the-shelf pager or cell phone velcroed inside the Beeper Box, the Beeper Box listens for the sound of the pager beeping or cell phone ringing, then controls power to your preheater according to the operating mode you have set. For example, set the Beeper Box for 1 to 12 hours of preheating - if you don't manually turn it off after activation, it will time out and shut off on its own. Or, choose one of several other on/off settings.
